The Callaways’ story
Owners Tammy and Ted Callaway moved to Lake Country more than five years ago and quickly fell in love with the relaxed rhythm of lakeside living. With five children, three in‑law children and a growing group of grandchildren, their family roots run deep. Tammy spent years teaching middle school, high school and adult learners, while Ted worked in the hardware and building materials industry. Meeting and helping people has always been part of their daily lives. Their faith, their experience as parents and their passion for reading inspired them to create Lake Country Books & Gifts as an extension of making new friends and encouraging personal growth.
Tammy’s goal is to share her love of learning and reading, drawing on her experiences as a mom, wife, teacher and person of faith. This ethos infuses everything the bookstore does – from the titles it stocks to the events it hosts. The team believes stories are companions that build empathy and community. Their shop is a love letter to Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair, inviting guests to curl up with a good book, chat with neighbors and discover new adventures.
