Southern Roots
When Crystal Ivey realized she wanted a career change, she prayed for another opportunity to come. She first believed that her prayers would lead her to another position in the medical field, but when the beloved shop that is now Southern Roots fell into her lap, she felt as if God was opening up a new door for her.
Crystal is especially thankful for this opportunity because it allows her to spend more time with her friends and family and make meaningful relationships with each and every customer that visits her shop. Her goal was to create a business that is rooted in Christ, and she also wanted to reflect on the annual Deep Roots Festival that goes on in the streets of downtown Milledgeville every year. With that, she created the name Southern Roots, and the shop has quickly become a popular spot for men’s clothing in downtown Milledgeville.
Southern Roots offers a wide selection of men’s clothing from t-shirts and shorts to dress clothes. Crystal saw a need for men’s clothing downtown and wanted to provide different brands that are affordable for a variety of price ranges. They carry popular clothing brands such as Onward Reserve, Southern Marsh, Peach State Pride, Fish Hippie, and Over Under, and shoe brands like Hey Dude and OluKai. They have recently extended their brand to offer a small selection of women’s clothing as well. They also carry local honey and leather wrapped glassware from Lindy Leather.
The shop is the definition of true Southern hospitality - you may even be greeted by Crystal’s dog while you shop and can enjoy some ESPN football on the weekends! She opened with a goal of providing a laid back atmosphere that allows her customers to feel like they are at home while they shop.
