Take your paddling experience to the next level with Oconee Outfitters on a two-night, three-day paddling adventure from the Central State boat ramp to Balls Ferry State Park near Toomsboro. This approximately 38-mile stretch of serene, remote river offers abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing and feels like “Jurassic Park without the dinosaurs!”
The journey is a birder’s paradise, with the sounds of red-eyed and white-eyed vireos, summer tanagers, Mississippi kites, barred owls, bald eagles, little blue herons, black-crowned night herons, spotted sandpipers, Eastern kingbirds, yellow-throated warblers, tufted titmice, and many other species filling the air.
The tour price includes transportation from the take-out back to the put-in, meals, snacks, experienced guides, and plenty of fun along the way. Boat rentals and camping gear are available for an additional fee.
Oconee Outfitters’ guides prepare delicious dinners, breakfasts, desserts, and picnic-style lunches while offering camping and paddling guidance throughout the adventure. Participants can relax, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and experience the longest stretch of uninterrupted river in the state of Georgia.
Participants who are not renting equipment must provide their own shelter and sleeping gear, including tents, sleeping bags or pads, pillows, and personal sundries. A suggested packing list will be provided before the trip.
