Interested in visiting the Okefenokee, but not so sure about camping in the wilds of the swamp? Join us for an adventure into the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge with the home base and extra comforts of the Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins and Campground in the evenings. These cabins or campsites of your choosing are conveniently located just outside of the entrance to the swamp and have the comforts of restrooms, showers, and electricity that we all love
Meet us for a picnic lunch Friday at 1:00 before we explore the Chesser Island Homestead area and boardwalk paths for a short, easy walk in the Suwannee Canal Recreation area (SCRA). Here we'll explore the boardwalk trails and get a sneak peek into the swamp waters that we'll paddle out into the next 2 days. After our time exploring the SCRA, we'll make the short drive over to check in at Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins and Campground where we'll settle in for the night and enjoy a delicious home-cooked dinner with the company of new friends (oh, and dessert!).
Day 2 will begin with plenty of coffee and an ample breakfast to fuel up for a day in the swamp. Starting from the SCRA, we'll launch our vessels and head down the canoe trail on the edge of Chesser Prairie before jumping on to the main canal channel toward the Coffee Bay shelter and have lunch there. After lunch we'll make our way back down the canal to SCRA and then on to Okefenokee Pastimes to enjoy another evening of tasty cuisine and comradery (and more dessert).
The next morning, your guides will get you going with another amazing breakfast before our second day on the water. Our final day will be spent exploring Chesser Prairie and visiting Cedar Hammock for a lunch stop before moseying back toward SCRA and saying our goodbyes.
