This full day, weeklong camp experience at Lockerly Arboretum in the Lake Sinclair area is filled with wild, nature activities for kids who love being outside! Youth Art Camp (3rd-5th Grade) // Georgia College and State University
Rising 3rd-5th Grades
Unleash your child’s creativity at Youth Art Camp, a fun-filled week of hands-on projects and artistic exploration! Each day, campers will learn about different art techniques and history while creating unique masterpieces to take home by the end of the week.
Pinch Pot Creations
Campers will dive into the history of pinch pots and learn how ancient cultures used them. They will then sculpt their own pinch pot using air-dry clay and then bring them to life with acrylic paint.
Faux Stained Glass
We will explore the beauty and history of stained glass, discovering why it has been used in art and architecture for centuries. Campers will then create their own faux stained-glass piece using acrylic glass and gallery glass paint.
Tie-Dye Fun
Time to get colorful! Campers will tie-dye their own T-shirts, which will be left to set overnight. While waiting, they will design a paper version of their tie-dyed creation to see if they can predict what the finished product will look like.
Shrink Film Charms
Campers will design small charms of their liking using clear shrink film and colorful sharpies. Once they have created their masterpiece, they will then finish them by watching them shrink into a miniature version in a tiny oven!
This camp is a perfect blend of creativity, history, and hands-on fun! Your child will not only gain new age-appropriate artistic skills but also a deeper appreciation for different art forms. Join us for an exciting week of artistic adventure at Youth Art Camp!

Creatures Under the Sun: African Adventures (Rising 6th-9th Grade) // Georgia College and State University
This camp is an engaging half-day summer camp designed to spark curiosity about the incredible wildlife of Africa’s deserts and savannas. Rising 3rd–5th graders and rising 6th–9th graders will have separate sessions tailored to their age group, where they’ll learn about the amazing animals that call these habitats home. Through interactive activities, captivating stories, and hands-on exploration, campers will discover the unique adaptations and ecosystem roles of creatures like cheetahs, elephants, and meerkats.
Campers will also travel to the Georgia Safari Conservation Park in Madison on Thursday, June 12, to see some rare and exotic creatures of the African Savanna. In order to participate in the field trip, all campers must be dropped off no later than 8am and will expect to return to campus around 4:30pm on Thursday, June 12.
Cost: $185

YSA Internship students tackle an individual research project and acquire valuable technical and analytical skills, culminating in data analysis and a YSA poster symposium. In some cases, YSA interns submit their work to national science conferences like the American Chemical Society’s National Conference.
Throughout the six weeks of the program, students participate in weekly workshops with the YSA Director who provides insight into the scientific process, research ethics, how to read a research paper, how to make a poster, and how to network in the science and engineering fields. There are also sessions on college admission strategies and programs.

Wow! Look at that stick…wait, it’s MOVING!!! How and why do animals use camouflage? What about the ones that warn you with bright colors? Learn all about ways that animals protect themselves through coloration at this year’s Creature Camp! Students will spend the week meeting animals and using color as a way to protect, warn and mimic!

2022 SCIENCE CAMP SCHEDULE:
June 13-17: Science Camp Jr. for students entering grades 3-5
June 27- July 01: Science Camp for students entering grades 6-9
Georgia College is excited for another Science Camp for students entering grades 3-9. They welcome children of all backgrounds interested in science. Science Camp is an all-science academic summer experience featuring hands-on and outdoor activities presented by your camp counselors, Georgia College faculty, staff, area scientists, and local community members. In addition, campers will be assisted by some of Georgia College's finest undergraduate students. Each fun-filled week of science will be held at Georgia College in Milledgeville. Campers must bring lunch daily. Snacks and water will be provided. Registration is limited to 15 participants per camp week.
CAMP FEE: $115 per camper.
We offer a 10% discount for siblings to attend science camp. Pay $115 for the 1st camper and each sibling that also attends camp receives a 10% discount off the registration fee for any week of camp. Refund Policy: Refunds will be only be issued until June 1, 2022.
CAMP LOCATIONS:
Drop-off and Pick-up location is TBD but will either be Lake Laurel or a location on GC's Main Campus. Parents will be notified if there will be a different drop-off and pick-up location.
CAMP TIME AND PICK-UP/DROP-OFF POLICY
Camp Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Drop-off Time: no earlier than 7:45 am
Pick up Time: no later than 5:15 pm
First violation of pick-up/drop-off time: $20 fee
Second violation: dismissal from camp
CAMPS FILL UP FAST!
Therefore, early registration AND submission of paperwork and fees is suggested, as enrollment is limited to fifteen campers per week.
The deadline for on-line registration and for all completed parent kit forms and camp registration fees is Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

June 27- July 01: Science Camp for students entering grades 6-9
Georgia College is excited for another Science Camp for students entering grades 3-9. They welcome children of all backgrounds interested in science. Science Camp is an all-science academic summer experience featuring hands-on and outdoor activities presented by your camp counselors, Georgia College faculty, staff, area scientists, and local community members. In addition, campers will be assisted by some of Georgia College's finest undergraduate students. Each fun-filled week of science will be held at Georgia College in Milledgeville. Campers must bring lunch daily. Snacks and water will be provided. Registration is limited to 15 participants per camp week.
CAMP FEE: $115 per camper.
We offer a 10% discount for siblings to attend science camp. Pay $115 for the 1st camper and each sibling that also attends camp receives a 10% discount off the registration fee for any week of camp. Refund Policy: Refunds will be only be issued until June 1, 2022.
CAMP LOCATIONS:
Drop-off and Pick-up location is TBD but will either be Lake Laurel or a location on GC's Main Campus. Parents will be notified if there will be a different drop-off and pick-up location.
CAMP TIME AND PICK-UP/DROP-OFF POLICY
Camp Time: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Drop-off Time: no earlier than 7:45 am
Pick up Time: no later than 5:15 pm
First violation of pick-up/drop-off time: $20 fee
Second violation: dismissal from camp

Therefore, early registration AND submission of paperwork and fees is suggested, as enrollment is limited to fifteen campers per week.
The deadline for on-line registration and for all completed parent kit forms and camp registration fees is Wednesday, June 1, 2022.

Camp Oliver Worley // Lockerly Arboretum
Camp Oliver Worley teaches campers how eco-systems work by conducting experiments that will encourage their natural curiosity about plants and wildlife.

Creature Camp (Rising 4th-6th Graders)
What happens when a tree falls in the forest? What exactly is a fungus? Are all bacteria bad? How do bones become fossils? Join us to learn all about what happens behind the scenes as things decompose, why it is so important and ways that nature preserves! We will look into how we combat decomposers and digesters through different methods of preservation as well as ways that we have harnessed their power to help with recycling, healthy diets and more! Also, we will participate in an outdoor field trip to search for some of nature's decomposers and digesters!
